Not everyone can afford to spend a lot of money on headphones. There are many choices for those on a tight budget. There are many options available for under $200. You may not know where to begin looking. This is my list of great wireless, closed-back and open-back headphones in that price range.
Closed-Back
Sivga SV021
The brand may not have been on your radar, but it has proven to be one worth watching with their products. Sivga’s SV021, a closed-back headphone that doesn’t carry a large brand name, is one of the most popular options. Their design is what makes them stand out, aside from their great sound. It is the only wooden headphone you can buy for this price. This makes it stand out against all other closed-back headphones on this list. The SV021’s construction makes it the most portable.
Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO
The DT 770 Pro has probably been on a lot of other lists. No matter what you are looking for, the DT 770 will provide a great experience. You can be sure that your music will sound crystal clear and accurate with these headphones. This is the perfect headphone for recording studios. It can also be used for daily use.
Sennheiser HD 569
Sennheiser is bound to appear in a list of headphones. The HD 569 from Sennheiser is one of only a few closed-back headphones in this price range which are not wireless. They give you an excellent option. The HD 569, like the DT 770 focuses on presenting a true representation of your tracks. This is a headphone with a lot of impact. The HD 569 comes with a remote/mic, which is an added bonus.
Sony MDR-7506
The Sony MDR-705 is another great studio headphone that you can use daily. The Sony MDR-7506 may have the most flat response of all the headphones selected, but it is still a good option for a headphone that sounds clean.
Open-Back
Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO
The DT 990 Pro is one of the first open back headphones I recommend, no matter the budget. The premium edition is another great option. The 990 Pro is a set of reference open-back headphones that are great for casual listening as well as gaming. The soundstage of the 990 Pro is large and crisp, with a strong bass.
Beyerdynamic DT880
The DT 880, while similar to the DT 990 is its own headphone. The DT 880 is a semi-open headphone, yet it still has many of the great features of open-back headphones. These include a wide soundstage, dimensional spatial image, and sonic imaging. The 880 is distinguished from the 990 by its tone and frequency response. The 880 has the same crispness but its low-end timbre is smoother. The 880 can be used as a guide.
Grado SR80x
This is one of the best on-ear headphones with open backs in this price range. Grado has made headphones of this type for a long time, and the SR80x represents their best option for audiophiles on a budget. The SR80x headphone is a powerful one for its price. The SR80x has a powerful midrange and a bass that grips. Your music will be energized by this headphone.
Sennheiser HD 560s
Sennheiser’s latest reference headphone is always a good thing. The HD 560s can be used for casual listening as well as critical listening. Its flat sound signature is deeper than many reference headphones at this price. The Beyerdynamic headphones are more transparent, but the scope of this model is different.
Sennheiser HD 599
The HD 560s, while a fantastic option, is priced at around $200. HD 599 is a good option for those looking for a more affordable and open-back camera. The HD 599 has similar clarity to the HD 560s but has more color in its midrange.
Wireless
Sennheiser HD 450BT
Sennheiser budget ANC headphones will be worth the money. The ANC works well for the price. It has a good bass and a strong ANC.
Audio-Technica ATH M50xBT2
Audio Technica’s most popular reference headphones have a Bluetooth version. It is everything that you would expect from a wireless rendition of their sound. The M20xBT is another good option that costs even less. The M50xBT, however, is an upgrade that’s worth the money. It still costs less than $200.
Final Audio UX3000
Few brands are as consistent as Final Audio. Final Audio has been releasing great products, such as IEMs and headphones, for many years. The UX3000 meets their standard of clear sound and comfort.
Strauss & Wagner BT501
Strauss and Wagner is a budget audio company, but their products don’t sound it. The BT501 delivers a bass-centric, fun sound that is also clear. The BT501 is a simple set of wireless headphones with a comfortable fit.
