Qualcomm announced last week three new handheld gaming platforms that are aimed at streamers, gamers on a tight budget, who wish to play locally, as well as those who desire the best portable gaming experiences on earth.
These gaming platforms are going to challenge consoles. They will favor portability over performance while offering a richer and more high-performance experience than what you get on your smartphone, as well as a greater level of portability than a console or gaming PC.
This week, let’s discuss handheld gaming and why it could be a hot item this holiday season. Let’s close out with my Product Of The Week, my new favorite mic, the HyperX quadCast.
Handheld Gaming: A Serious Business
Handheld gaming is on the rise. Total revenues from handheld games exceed consoles and computers combined. You can easily understand the reason: Your gaming console and computer do not go everywhere you do.
Often, we have some downtime waiting or while traveling. We want to keep ourselves entertained. However, using our smartphones for gaming can be problematic. However, ic. When you are in a hurry, your battery may not be able to handle the demands of gaming. You can ruin your gaming experience if you receive a phone call, social media message, email, or text.
Final point: designers didn’t design the smartphone to be a gaming machine. Screen controls can be laggy and your fingers can obscure the screen. External controls are also difficult to use and may not work on all smartphones due to differences in physical design.
The advent of head-mounted displays made it more difficult to control smartphones because you couldn’t see them. This forced a dedicated solution that makes it easier to press the buttons when you cannot see the controller.
Since years, I have been using Head-mounted Displamounted displays that are good for movies bu for years. Theye to the controller problem.
These dedicated handheld devices are designed to offer a better gaming experience than PCs. They do this by providing a device that is more focused and does its job well, a more concentrated device that’s smartphone.
napdragon G Series portfolio
Qualcomm has announced that its Snapdragon G Series gaming handheld portfolio will be divided into three levels:
- Snapdragon g1 is expected to be in the $200 price range and will only be available to those who wish to stream videos and games using services like GeForce Now.
- Snapdragon g2 will be a good choice for gamers who wish to stream and game locally. The G2 is more powerful and costs more, probably in the $300 to $400 range.
- Snapdragon H3 was designed for gamers who are looking to experience a console like gaming ex want console-like gaming experience that will likely cost more than $400.
Qualcomm showed off a prototype built on its latest enthusiast-class Snapdragon G3x platform. The carbon-fiber casing gives it a more competitive appearance and feel, and is also a richer look. This explains its high and new flagship, which is a G-series designed with active cooling fans and offers desktop-level gaming capabilities on installed games. Expectations showever, are that OEMs will come; however, OEMs are expdeveloplopcreens and have physical price points as they all compete for fourth-quarter holiday dollars.
Perl, I would like to see an entirely head-mounted design. This would allow for a more immersive experience and reduce the likelihood of disturbing your partner while they are sleeping, reading, or working next to you. You could also play content that is inappropriate for children sitting behind or next to you on the plane.
The Best Smartphones For Gaming
These gaming-focused devices come with high-performance GPUs and built-in controllers. They are not affected by background apps, or phone operations. The experience is similartot to a console, with menus that are simplified and get you quickly to the content. Custom cases and bespoke designs will make people lust over your device.
While cross-platform gaming has had its problems, this platform aims to improve the mobile experience and use of devices for immersive multiplayer games on the road. Imagine the future, where you can connect these devices on a plane, u,s oryoushi,p and create a multiplayer experience for a,ll passengers.
Wrapping up
These new handheld gaming systems may be the breakout hit of this holiday season. These devices are affordable and innovative. They offer a unique gaming experience. These devices are among the very first to integrate head-mounted displays. Many of us believe that this will lead to a move away from screen-based games.
The future of handheld gaming is amazing. Save your pennies, because these products will be available before he holidays. I anticipate that supplies will be limited almost immediately. If you are interested in one of these products, order it now before they’re all gone.
Another thing: this platform will arrive at the market as generative AI is being developed. This means that the content to come will be unique and engaging. It may even include AI-driven NPCs, which would be amazing.
Personal gaming has a bright future and it’s coming soon to you.
HyperX QuadCast SS M,icrophone
I will have interviews and weekly shows for you soon. So, the camera and mic I use is very important.
The HyperX QuadCast microphone was the perfect replacement for my Shure SM7B, which I had been having problems with. Teams has recently become a bit buggy.
I couldn’t be haphaver with my decision, especially since the Shure cost me $400. HyperX costs only $140, and it does not require a USB amplifier to work with my computer. This is a great bargain.
The HyperX QuadCast S looks great floating above my desk.
The QuadCast S has a single mute button on the tip of the microphone that, when pressed, also turns off the light so you know it’s not on. QuadCast has a mute switch on the tip of its microphone. When pressed, it also turns off the light so you can tell when the mic is not in use.
It also has a socket for headsets, making it easy to add a headset. This is a common problem with desktop setups.
The only thing I would change is the color of the mic to match my PC’s lights. The microphone came with a weighted stand that is much lighter than Shure’s stand, and I decided to use the boom mount instead.
